Meaningful Watershed Educational Experience

What is A MWEE?

The Chesapeake Bay Foundation's MWEE Program is an educational initiative focused on promoting conservation across the Chesapeake Bay watershed.

The Chesapeake Bay watershed encompasses portions of 6 states and covers 64,000 square miles. This valuable resource plays a vital role in our ecosystems and agriculture, supporting countless species of organisms and plants both on land and in water.
Visit the Bay Backpack Website to learn more about the MWEE program and to register for their educator courses.

Pollinators and MWEEs

How are pollinators connected to the watershed?
Does the presence of pollinators effect the quality of water?
These are just a couple of questions that can be explored through pollinator-focused MWEE projects.

Students (and educators) are often surprised by the many connections that exist between pollinators and watershed health. Engaging in a pollinator-focused MWEE supports pollinators, watersheds and hands-on experiences for students. Everyone wins! Learners of all ages will benefit from the multi-layered stewardship, while gaining the skills they need to support the delicate balance of our ecosystems.
Each of the resources below have been carefully constructed by a certified teacher to support your exploration of the relationship between pollinators and watershed conservation.
